In Agate's thread about giving things up I realized that it has been about 5 years since I have been able to complete a book - the pages blur.
Well, come he$$ or high water I am going to read Garth Turner's book - Sheeple: Caucus Confidential in Stephen Harper's Ottawa.
It's the first book I have purchased in over 10 years and it will be here next week.
I so dislike Harper. _________________ Cricket |

Does it help to read books a little bit at a time--in small doses? Or is the blur there as soon as you start reading?
If you have an eye doctor, have there been any suggestions for solving this problem?
Do you happen to know somebody who would be interested enough in the same book to read it aloud to you?
Or could you get an audiotape of it? |

I can read for about 20 minutes.
My twin loves audio books, but then she also likes movies. I find both hard to tolerate, never liked movies (love documentaries though) and audio books kind of annoy me. Noise isn't something I enjoy, even when I am on the computer I have the sound turned down. My birds are noisy but they don't bug me. Muted noise is OK. It doesn't make sense.
The double vision is nothing serious, it's refractive and can't be fully corrected.
I know - I sound petulant and whiny and negative. Part of getting older for me involves more quiet time. Having a child around makes that difficult. Maybe once she is transitioned into her new home I'll be more open to movies etc. Having to give her up is traumatic to say the least, but as I age it's not an option.:(
Her mom (also special needs) will be her new caregiver with lots of support and a full-time supervisor so they will be happy together.
Can't wait to get my hands on the book - Garth Turner was part of that caucus before Harper threw him out for blogging and being outspoken. _________________ Cricket |
